Aunt Jemima grits is pretty easy to make. The key ingredients are: Butternut squash, onion, garlic, salt and pepper. You can either make the casserole on a sheet pan, or in a crock pot. The key to a great grits casserole is to use lots of garlic and onions.
On this particular recipe, the garlic and onions are added at the same time. But if you only want regular garlic, try adding it the last 2 minutes of cooking.

It’s not a secret that the older generation of cooks in the US are doing a lot of casserole making. It’s only in the last decade or so that we’ve started to see kids being taught how to make casseroles and other dishes that don’t come from scratch. I had a great time making this dish. Its not a recipe, nor a recipe that is easy to follow. I just use the ingredients that I have on hand and mix it up. It works like a charm and is a perfect side dish or meal to go with a meat dish or pasta. It gives you a great reason to go out and have a night out or just a lazy night.
